After making the rounds to promote their film “Alienoid,” stars Kim Tae Ri and So Ji Sub and movie director Choi Dong Hoon contracted the COVID-19 virus.
The director and So Ji Sub tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, July 27. According to a source direct from the actor’s agency 51K, “So Ji Sub checked that he tested positive using a self-testing kit. He then took a PCR test and received a positive result.”
Meanwhile, media production company CJ ENM revealed through their official social media page that the public appearance of director Choi Dong Hoon and actress Kim Tae Ri to greet the moviegoers will no longer push through.
On Thursday, July 28, the actress’ agency Management mmm dropped a statement about her current condition.
The management’s statement reads:
“Hello. This is Management mmm.
On July 27, Kim Tae Ri was classified to be a close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, and she tested positive on the self-testing kit she used, so she immediately carried out a PCR test. She ultimately received a positive test this morning.
Kim Tae Ri halted all her scheduled activities, and she will self-quarantine in accordance to the guidelines of the government health authorities and concentrate on treatment.
Currently, she has no special symptoms.
We will adhere to the guidelines of government health authorities and do everything we can while considering the health of our actors and staff our top priority.

“Alienoid” is a two-part film that centers on the story of a mysterious time portal that connects people from the Goryeo Dynasty who were looking for a legendary sword and modern-day people chasing an alien prisoner entrapped in a human body in 2022.
The movie also stars Ryu Jun Yeol, Honey Lee, and Kim Woo Bin.
The first part of “Alienoid” debuted on the big screen on July 20. The second installment is expected to come out in 2023.
