After reports claimed that Kim Tae was required to pay additional taxes for 2022, her agency Story J Company issued a statement Wednesday, March 1, to explain the massive tax adjustment.
Previous reports claimed that the actress went through strict auditing for her personal taxable income. The outcome required her to pay additional taxes worth several hundred million won.
To clarify the reports, her agency explained that Kim Tae Hee honestly and diligently paid her taxes every year. They also said that the actress also followed the requirements set by the national tax service and settled her taxes on time in 2022.
The agency also mentioned that her transition to their company from her former agency Lua Entertainment was the reason for her additional tax payments.
“Revenues were reported diligently by both Kim Tae Hee’s management and her former agency, and all due tax payments were made; however, her former agency treated the revenues from Kim Tae Hee’s [advertisement] deals as Kim Tae Hee’s sole revenue. Due to this internal conflict, there was a delay in the reporting of these earnings,” the agency stated.
Story J Company also assured the actress’ fans that she never engaged in any unfavorable tax situation.
“We would like to emphasize that no disgraceful activities took place during the auditing process, only that the actress was required to pay additional taxes, which she did diligently,” the agency added.
