The Olympic Games Beijing 2022 is causing celebrities to receive negative attention.
BTS’ leader RM, real name Kim Namjoon, continues to receive hate after showing his support for South Korean short-track speed skater Hwang Dae-Heon.
RM made a post to cheer for an Olympic athlete on his Instagram. As the comment function has always been disabled for RM’s Instagram, netizens took their anger to BTS’s official Instagram. Hwang was disqualified after contacting a Chinese athlete, even though he came first.
On his personal Instagram, RM posted a clip of the skater on his story, adding emojis and a thumbs-up. His support angered Chinese netizens. As his comment section is limited and disabled to followers, they retaliated by bashing the member on BTS’ official Instagram.
The attacks were defamatory, after RM’s character, BTS’ music, vomiting emojis, and other malicious posts that we weren’t able to catch due to BigHit Music disabling the comment section.
ARMYs came to the rescue by drowning these hate comments posting purple hearts to support RM. According to Korean JoongAng Daily, the post received more than 25,000 comments before BigHit disabled the comment function under the post.
Despite the attacks, RM continues to support South Korean athletes competing in the Olympics on Instagram. He is also posting music recommendations. Does this mean their comeback is near?
