A new producing director will work on SBS’s “Running Man” in the variety show’s upcoming episodes.
The network confirmed Tuesday, August 2, that the show’s current PD Choi Bo Pil will have to say goodbye after episode 617.
PD Choi Bo Pil started working behind the scenes on “Running Man” in March 2020. He already talked to the upcoming production team and the cast of the show and decided to stay until after the 12th-anniversary celebration of the long-running TV variety series.
The network also shared PD Choi Bo Pil’s plans after departing from “Running Man.”
“Choi Bo Pil will take some time to recharge and focus on preparing a new program. Please show lots of interest,” the network said in a statement.
Due to the PD’s departure, the cast of the show started posting tributes to the outgoing production head on their social media accounts.
One of them is actress Song Ji Hyo, who posted a funny goodbye banner that reads, “The greatest star PD of ‘Running Man’” in the first line, and “Choi Bo Pil, you’re out!” in the second line. She also included the caption, “Our beloved Bo Pil! Good work for running alongside us all this time!”
After PD Choi Bo Pil’s departure, PD Choi Hyun In will step up to fill in the role in the succeeding episodes.
