BLACKPINK member Jennie reveals in an interview that she’s preparing for a solo album.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar Korea, Jennie said, “I’m making a song that’s by Jennie, the most Jennie and something unique that is only Jennie’s.”
Jennie’s second solo album comes almost five years after her mega-hit single “Solo” was released in November 2018. “Solo” stormed charts locally and internationally, surpassing 300 million streams, the first for a K-Pop female soloist, in 2021. Its YouTube music video also surpassed the 900-million-view mark, the first time for a KPop female soloist, in March.
Korean news outlets continue to watch the outcome of BLACKPINK’s contract renewal. According to several news outlets, the members are currently in talks, though a separate one said only Rosé would remain in YG. At the same time, Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa are discussing signing with other companies. YG Entertainment refuted this report and said they’re still in talks.
