ARMYs feared that this would happen, and they were right for the second time. The Recording Academy donned themselves in purple and moved the awarding for Best Pop Duo/Group to the main show instead of its usual timeslot, which is the preshow. There’s also the usual hyping, filling their page with BTS and in the end, people got up asking, “What just happened?”
BTS continues to trend in millions as people, both ARMYs and audiences, were upset at the obvious exploitation of the global princes of pop. Still, with the dismay towards the Recording Academy using BTS’ fame to secure views, BTS dominated the show.
BTS received a standing ovation for their multi-awarded hit single Butter. The members channeled James Bond spy act for their performance. Jungkook fulfilled his dream, performing in front of his idol Justin Bieber, who was one of the first to give them a standing ovation. V also caused intrigued with his skit with Grammy winner Olivia Rodrigo. Hundreds of thousands of tweets circulate on #jealousyjealousy and #YOUBETRAYEDME.
#Scammys is also trending with several news articles and experts questioning the Recording Academy’s legitimacy in their obvious exploitation and snubbing of the biggest boyband in history. Many congratulated BTS for their wonderful performance.
BTS comforted ARMYs on VLive, knowing that this caused them to be upset, adding the fact that the app crashed at an important time. The leader said, “it’s a fact that we’re not happy, but I think it’s good, to be honest about how we feel. We can just be sad for today and feel better tomorrow. It’s all good.” Rm continued, “Please don’t forget that, whether we get the Grammys or not, we already got what we wanted, and we got you, so that means we got everything.”
