The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced that mega-group BTS’ 2018 track ‘Idol’ earned platinum certification.
According to The Korea JoongAng Daily, the RIAJ provides four certifications for song streams according to the number of total streams — silver at 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, platinum at 100 million streams, and diamond at 500 million streams.
Idol is the lead track on their repackaged album “Love Yourself” in 2018. Currently, the song has more than a billion views on YouTube. BTS already has diamond certification for the song “Dynamite” (2020), and platinum certifications for “Your eyes tell” (2020), “Fake Love” (2018), “Life Goes On” (2020), “Film Out” (2021) “DNA” (2017) with tracks “Go Go” (2017) and “Make It Right” (2017) were certified gold.
Currently, BTS members are focusing on individual projects. RM’s Indigo performed well, topping the charts. Jimin’s collaboration with BIGBANG’s Taeyang ‘Vibe’ scored high in local and international charts. Jimin also recently attended Paris Fashion week, being Dior’s global ambassador. SUGA also attended Paris Fashion Week as Valentino’s Global ambassador. According to several reports, J-Hope is being eyed by Louis Vuitton and Hermes. He also reveals the concept to his solo photo folio in the new ‘All New Hope’ production film.
Eyes are also on V, who will star with Wooga Squad members Choi Woo Shik and Park Seo Joon on Seojin’s. Their maknae, Jungkook, was recently followed by Calvin Klein’s global head of creative Cedric Murac, and Zayden Choo, the brand’s commercial director, firing the blaze to the gossip that the luxury brand will name him ambassador in the next days. Last but not least, Kim Seokjin won a one-day vacation for winning their unit’s talent show.
