Former LOONA member Chuu starts anew as she signed an exclusive contract with the new agency ATRP.
After winning the injunction and blocking the ban proposed by her previous agency BlockBerry Creative. In a press release, ATRP expressed, “We will support Chuu so that she can pursue her career as an artist.”
Kim Jin-mi, a former WM Entertainment executive director, founded ATRP. Chuu is the first artist ATRP will represent.
Chuu, real name Kim Ji-Woo, debuted as a vocalist in LOONA in 2017. In 2022, Chuu and Blockberry Creative went to court after she filed an injunction to terminate her exclusive contract, citing that the profit distribution was unfair. The court ruled in favor of Chuu. However, the battle doesn’t end there as BlockBerry Creative expelled Chuu, creating a false web of lies that allege she was verbally abusive to Blockberry Creative’s staff members. It was easily debunked by former LOONA members and other staff members who supported Chuu.
The agency accused Chuu of tampering with her exclusive contract by signing with BY4M Studio in 2021 to switch agencies, which was soon clarified as Chuu was unaware of the company in December 2021.
After everything she’d been through, many support Chuu’s new start and only hope for the best of her re-entering the entertainment industry. Here is the latest episode of her series on YouTube Chuu Can Do It.
