Actor Park Bo Gum officially ended his active duty service on Monday, February 21, after an antivirus guideline no longer require him to return to his base after his final military vacation.
Navy officials confirmed that Petty Officer Second Class Park Bo Gum left the Navy unit located in the military headquarters in Gyeryongdae, 160 kilometers away from Seoul, to begin his vacation until his official discharge on April 30.
The usual protocol required troops to be physically present on their bases during the final day of their mandatory service. But due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country, the military decided to lift the rules to prevent the spread of the virus.
Despite his discharge, Park Bo Gum will technically remain an active serviceman until his official discharge date. He started his mandatory service in August 2020 and served at the Naval music corps.
The actor’s agency has yet to announce plans for his entertainment career after his military duties.
