International streaming service Disney Plus announced that the highly-anticipated Korean dark-hero series “Vigilante” is set to premiere in the second half of 2023.

The dark action-thriller is the live adaptation of the famous Naver webtoon series “Vigilante,” which ran on Naver for four years. The series was written by CRG and drawn by webtoon cartoonist Kim Kyu-Sam.

Vigilante’s plot centers on the protagonist Kim Ji-Young, played by Nam Joo-Hyuk, a student at the National Police University by day, and pursuing and punishing criminals as a vigilante at night. “Vigilante” is not Nam’s first webtoon-based series, as he worked on the live adaptation of the webtoon “Twenty Five, Twenty-One” in 2022.

Yoo Ji-Tae, famous for “Attack the Gas Station,” and “Money Heist: Korea _ Joint Economic Area,” will play the detective, Jo Heon, who hunts Nam’s character. Lee Joon-Hyuk will play Jo Gang-Wook, the vigilante’s reporter. Kim So-Jin is reporter and journalist Cho Mi-Ryo, who covers the activities of the mysterious dark hero.
