Actor Kim Nam-gil will work with Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun to star in Netflix’s original drama “Song of the Bandit.”
The period drama is set in the 1920s. It focuses on the story of Koreans who transferred to a town in northeastern China called Gando for various reasons. The group found themselves bonded together in an effort to protect their homes during the Japanese colonial rule that lasted from 1910 to 1945.
Kim Nam-gil will play the role of the character named Lee Yoon. He is an ex-Japanese soldier who left the service to serve as a righteous outlaw and protect the Koreans against the troops of Japanese soldiers in Gando. Meanwhile, Seohyun will play the character named Nam Hee-shin, a staff working for the Chosun Railway Bureau.
Other cast members include Yoo Jae-myung, who will take on the role of a Korean landowner in Gando who used to be the leader of an independence army unit involved in resistance activities, while Lee Ho-jung will play the role of a gunman assigned to hunt Lee Yoon. Meanwhile, Lee Hyun-wook will play the role of a Japanese military officer.
Hwang Joon-hyuk, the director of the hit crime action drama “Bad Guys: City of Evil,” will helm the upcoming Netflix series. The streaming service giant has yet to announce the release date for “Song of the Bandit” in the coming days.
