After actor Yoo Ah In became embroiled in illegal drug use controversies, media outlets revealed Thursday, March 2, that he will no longer participate in the supernatural thriller “Hellbound 2” and will be replaced by Kim Seong Cheol.
According to the reports, Kim Seong Cheol will play the role of charismatic yet dark cult leader Jeong Jin Soo.
The remarkable character was portrayed by Yoo Ah In in the drama’s first season. But due to the ongoing police investigation regarding his habitual drug use after testing positive for marijuana, propofol, cocaine, and ketamine use, he opted not to be part of the show’s second season.
Netflix also confirmed the casting changes in a social media post.
Kim Sung Cheol impressed the viewers in 2021’s “Our Beloved Summer” as Kim Ji Ung. He also made a mark in 2020’s musical drama “Do You Like Brahms?”
Production for “Hellbound 2” is slated to begin soon, with plans to release the episodes on Netflix in the second half of 2023.
