SM Entertainment continues to weave into the metaverse as it announces NCT 127’s upcoming concert in collaboration with Roblox.
NCT 127 will perform in the global virtual concert “The NCT 127 Concert Experience,” set in the metaverse space of Roblox.
According to The Korea Herald, this is the first-ever KPop concert to be held inside the metaverse space. The platform’s developer Roblox Corp. stated that the concert would take place from January 28-30, from 9 am to 4 pm Korea time, allowing fans worldwide to attend the virtual concert anywhere at any time.
SM Entertainment explained that it would not be the actual NCT 127 who will perform as they will be represented by 3D avatars who will perform some of the band’s biggest hits, including 2 Baddies,” “Sticker,” and “Kick It.”
Roblox is one of the world’s biggest metaverse game platforms. According to Mobile Index data, the company’s metrics showed it had 61.5 million daily active users in December, and the third most played in South Korea.
SM Entertainment expressed that NCT 127’s upcoming concert is expected to be the biggest metaverse concert. Roblox players can also enjoy new experiences related to NCT 127 inside Roblox, including exclusive concert-themed items to treasure hunting and obstacle games.
