Stellar drama actors Ryu Jun Yeol and Jeon Yeo Been will share the stage at the opening ceremony of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) as the event’s co-hosts, the organizers revealed Wednesday, September 14.
Ryu Jun Yeol is one of Korea’s most versatile stars. Since his impressive film debut in 2015 with the movie “Socialphobia,” he went on to capture the hearts of the audience. His most notable works include TV dramas “Reply 1988” and “Lucky Romance” and films like “A Taxi Driver” and “Alienoid.”
Meanwhile, Jeon Yeo Been also has a long list of notable projects over the years. She also starred in films like ”Forbidden Dream” and “Night in Paradise” and served as the female lead in “Vincenzo.”
Both actors have previous histories with BIFF. Ryu Jun Yeol was part of the Korean Cinema Today – Panorama section during the 20th BIFF in 2015, while Jeon Yeo Been bagged the Actress of the Year Award at the 22nd BIFF for her role in “After My Death” in 2017.
The event will commence its 10-day activities on October 5 at the Busan Cinema Center. The 27th BIFF will be the first time where the social distancing requirements will no longer be implemented since the pandemic began.
The festival will also allow the attendees to occupy all available seats and invited celebrities and filmmakers locally and worldwide.
