Actors Byun Yo Han, Lee Kyu Hyung, and Seo Hyun Woo will be part of Song Kang Ho’s first TV drama in 32 years.
The drama titled “Uncle Sam Sik” will feature the story of the friendship between two men named Uncle Sam Sik and Kim San whom both surpassed the challenging times in Korea during the early 1960s.
Song Kang Ho was confirmed to play the titular role of Uncle Sam Sik in August 2022. But the rest of the cast remained unannounced until now.
The production team named Byun Yo Han as the actor who will play the role of the second lead character Kim San. He is a top student from the prestigious Korea Military Academy and an Albright scholar.
While doing his military training in the US, he had a change of heart and decided to shift his major to Economics and went home to Korea to help the country embrace the industrial economy. But upon his return, he realized that there are a lot of work to do, which led him to a lot of disappointments. However, he met Uncle Sam Sik, a person who also has the same aspirations for the country and promised that they will achieve their dreams together.
Meanwhile, Lee Kyu Hyung will play the role of aspiring leader Kang Sung Min. He used Uncle Sam Sik in the past for his personal gains, then abandoned him when he got what he wanted.
Kim San’s hatred for Kang Sung Min was one of the reasons why Uncle Sam Sik became interested to know more about the former elite military student.
On the other hand, Seo Hyun Woo will portray Kim San’s classmate and another Albright scholar Jeong Han Min. However, this character decided to stay in their training in hopes of reforming the current military system in the country. Yet he was also disappointed to see all the hurdles to achieving his goals.
Aside from the cast list, details about the production of “Uncle Sam Sik” remains under wraps.
