Despite ranking first in January’s brand value for actors and actresses AND the success of ‘The Glory,‘ it seems people still have a bone to pick with seasoned actress Song Hye-Kyo.

Song graced Elle Korea’s February 2023 cover and gave a powerful statement as she addressed ageist criticisms of her “looking older all of a sudden” in the successful and famous series she stars in. In the interview, Song stated that her character Moon Dong Eun led a difficult life. It does not make sense if she appears as if she received care and treatment. She is satisfied with the way she looks in the series. Song wanted her character to appear “weak and exhausted.” She added, “A person who is determined to exact revenge might gain weight, but I thought it would be more pleasurable when perpetrators are beaten by a person with a small frame and frail appearance that would make them think, ‘What was so scary about that person?‘”

She also admitted that, yes, she has gotten old. But so does everyone, right? Many netizens came to her defense. If she looks older, they too want to get older, elegant and graceful as she does. A queen indeed!

In other news, The Glory Part 2 will premiere on March 10, 2023, on Netflix.
