’The Golden Spoon’ Team Reacts To Favoritism Allegations
The team behind the drama “The Golden Spoon” addressed the allegations from viewers about prioritizing certain cast members over the lead stars.
The allegations started after MBC dropped the newest behind-the-scenes video taken from the set of the series. Worried fans claimed that the focus was no longer on the lead actor BTOB’s Yook Sungjae, since the video showed more screen time for co-star Son Woo Hyun.
A source from the drama came out with a statement to address the allegations. “‘The Golden Spoon’ was the best drama where the actors showcased the best teamwork. The set atmosphere could not have been better, with the supporting actors becoming central members. We apologize for inconveniencing the actors and the viewers who love our drama through this controversy,” the production team representative stated.
The source also added that the set remains a pleasant and peaceful workplace. “Like the idols that they are, main actors Yook Sungjae, Jung Chaeyeon, and Yeonwoo all take lead and do not hesitate in promoting the project. It’s to the point where they step up and take care of Lee Jong Won and Son Woo Hyun, who are not as familiar with making-of videos.”
“The Golden Spoon” is a fantasy drama based on a webtoon of the same title. It tells the story of a poor student who takes advantage of a magical golden spoon to switch places with a rich friend.
The last two episodes of the drama will air on MBC on November 11 and 12.
