A new project may feature actor Woo Do Hwan and idol-turned-actress Bona from WJSN, news outlets revealed Tuesday, May 10.
According to reports, the stars will play the lead roles in an upcoming drama with the literal title “Joseon Lawyer.” Both their agencies confirmed the offer.
King Kong by Starship, Bona’s representatives, said that the actress is currently reviewing the offer. On the other hand, Woo Doo Hwan’s agency KeyEast admitted that the actor received the script and positively considered taking the role.
The drama is based on a webtoon of the same title. It features a warm yet cathartic story about a crooked lawyer named Kang Han Soo. He often files premeditated lawsuits and takes advantage of the emotions of the victims to win the case. But he unintentionally finds himself as a savior of the ordinary people, which led him to have a change of heart and be a just lawyer.
While the story is fictional, the theme of the drama is inspired by the real-life Gyeongguk Daejeon, or the code of law existing during the late Goryeo to the early Joseon Dynasties. The lead characters will help the regular people get the justice they deserve.
Aside from the legal genre, the upcoming drama will also feature elements of revenge and romance in the plot.
If the actors will take the offer, Woo Do Hwan will play the role of Kang Han Soo. The former revengeful and deceitful lawyer will eventually turn into a hero.
Meanwhile, Bona is considered to play the role of Kang Han Soo’s client Lee Yeon Joo. While the character seemed to be a commoner at first, she will turn out to be a person with plenty of secrets.
